Our Story
Two Therapists. A Shared Life. A New Chapter in Portugal.
When we met, we discovered we had followed remarkably similar paths. We were both California Marriage and Family Therapists, had attended the same graduate program at different times, and shared an active, engaged approach to counseling.
After marrying in 2018, we worked side by side in Santa Clarita, California, while maintaining independent practices. With Kassel Counseling, we're bringing those paths together while continuing to draw on our different specialties and perspectives.

Steven brings decades of experience in psychophysiology, biofeedback and neurofeedback. Arlette brings a creative and expressive perspective informed by her background in art therapy.

A New Chapter in Portugal
Building a life, not simply relocating a practice.
We came to Portugal looking for a more grounded way of life and were drawn to its history, natural beauty and, especially, the warmth of the people we encountered. Professional relationships developed through international biofeedback conferences also gave us a small network here.
